Malokarpatská Vertikála is a 56 km distance mountain ultramarathon with 2860 m total ascent and several steeper passages, which takes place in October in Small Carpathians (western part of Slovakia). This autumn race is being organized by Slavomír Glesk (it is a partner race of the SLOVAK ULTRA TRAIL association. This is a good race to test your skills for more difficult mountain races, it is not only dedicated to mountain runners, but also to experienced long distance hikers.
The Malokarpatská Vertikála race course follows the forest roads, forest paths and single paths and ascents to three well known mountains of Small Carpathians: Vápenná - Vysoká (twice) - and Veľký Petrklín. There are often changes of fast and easier passages with technical or steep passages, which will force you to slow down and walk. There are 5 aid stations during the course (8-11 km distance).
The course record has been set by Dominik Skokan, who has completed the 56 km in 05:47:13 in 2018. The course record in women category has been set in the same year by Denisa Kušnierová - 06:34:11.
Malokarpatská Vertikála 2020 is a part of the 6th edition of Slovak Ultratrail League. The course has been certified by ITRA (3 points).
