Big bear's ultra

One of the most recent arrivals on the Slovak ultrarunning scene is the Big Bear's Ultra race. BBU will be held on September 21.-22., 2024. It offers two courses, the longer of which is also the longest course within the Slovak Ultratrail League 2024. 

The BBU 100+ hundred course with parameters of 118 km / +6300 m has its start and finish at Budatín Castle. This 100+ loop will take you around Žilina - more precisely through the hills of the Kysucká vrchovina (Dubeň, Straník), Malá Fatra with Veľký and Malý Kriváň and Suchý in its Krivánská part and with Minčol in its Lúčanská part, as well as the Strážovské vrchy and Súľovské skaly (Žibrid, Kečka).

BBU100+: Budatínsky Hrad – Dubeň – Straník (CP1) – Kotrčiná Lúčka – Sedlo Žiarce – Lutiše – Belá (CP2) – Snilovské Sedlo (CP3) – Veľký Kriváň – Malý Kriváň – Suchý – Chata pod Suchým (CP4) – Nezbudská Lúčka – Strečno (CP5) – Špicák – Sedlo Javorina (CP6) – Minčol – Pod Krížavou – Kobylie – Čipčie – Turie (CP7) – Porúbka (brod) – Skalky – Tlstá Hora – Dielnice (CP8) – Budzogáň – Žibrid – Sedlo Patúch – Kečka – Roháčske sedlo – Hrad Hričov (CP9) – Hričovské Podhradie – Ovčiarsko (CP10) – Hradisko – Strážov – Budatín

Approximately half the distance event of the Big Bear's Ultra, starting in Strečno and ending in Budatín, runs from Strečno along the same route as the main hundred-kilometer race. The BBU 60+ route has parameters of 62 km / +3500 m and during the September 23-24 will take you to Malá Fatra and Strážovské vrchy and Súľovské skaly.

Both courses of Big Bear's Ultra - BBU100+ a BBU60+ - are part of the 10th edition of Slovak Ultratrail League. Both courses have been certified by ITRA (BBU100+ for 5 points, BBU60+ for 3 points) and are contained in the list of ITRA National League races as well as races with UTMB Index.
